Adventures in Landscaping (part 3)

Two weeks have passed, and the grass has started to grow.  With all the rain we’ve had, I would think that they would be ready to pop up.  Unfortunately with all that rain, “Winter” also arrived, causing a lot of leaves to fall in conjunction with the drop in temperature.  I’m not too sur how much of an impact that will have on the grass, but we’ll see as time goes in.

In the mean time, the Smart Patch grass has grown quickly.  If you look in the image below, much of the blue-green mixture has been replaced with new grass.

The Turf Builder grass, on the other hand, has been a bit more patient with its growth rate.  If you look close enough, you can see a few new shoots popping up in the top soil.

It is still too early to tell which of the two products will have the best long-term result, but for the near-term, Pennington Seed is out-pacing Scotts by a yard.
