If you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’ve missed possibly the best Super Bowl game in a decade.  Trailing by 4 points in the last two minutes of the game, the New York Giants marched down the field and scored the game winning touchdown with 30 seconds to spare.  The New England Patriots were favored by 12 points going into the game, but fought hard to score just 14 points, let alone score enough points to cover the spread.  The final score was 17-14, and put an end to the Patriots quest for perfection, ending the season with 18-1.

I have decided to run two separate sites.  The other address is http://modu.blog-now.net/, and I will be sharing posts between the two, so my links here will remain active.  Please take some time check out the other site after I get a chance to add some content on there and update the presentation.

I know I haven’t been very active here over the past few months (really, the last half year), and I do apologize for that.  “Real Life” as some might call it has really impacted my ability to be online for most of 2007, and when I do get a chance to relax in the evenings after work, I find myself simply putting my feet up and contemplate going to bed.

However, as to the point of this thread.  A friend of mine has developed a new site called “Blog Now!“  It is a similar service as WordPress.com (as they use the same software), that provides free blogs to everyone.  He has asked if I would consider moving the Musings to his site in order to create a user base (both to draw new users to his site as well as to experiment with some programming).  WordPress does have an option to export blogs to from one service to another, but I am afraid that I might end up losing the entire site or at least lose all the page listings on Yahoo and Google to the articles I’ve written here.  So, what I might do is simply start up a “mirror” blog on his site and/or redirect visitors from here to there.

What do you think?  What should I do?

The NFC Champions NEW YORK GIANTS are heading to Super Bowl XLII to challenge the AFC Champions New England Patriots.  While the Patriots are the favored team to win, our Giants are not to be counted out.  In the last match up between these two teams in Week 17, the Giants came within 3 points of defeating the Patriots after leading them by 12 points at one moment in the game.  This SHOULD be a hard-hitting close game, and if so, it should be very entertaining for everyone who is watching.  While I hope the Giants win (and vindicate their loss from the 2000 season), I will not be upset if they lose, especially if it is a close game.  They have worked hard and never fully been given the credit for their sucesses all season. 

 So get your snacks ready and call your friends over, and cheer for the BIG BLUE!

For those of you who do not know, Chili’s will be donating all of their profits on September 24th to St. Jude’s hospital to research brain tumors in children.  Additionally, if you buy a $25 gift card, $1 will be donated to St. Judes.  I recommend everyone go out and buy a gift card and have lunch at Chili’s on the 24th to maximize their donation.  The children can definitely use the money.

(This one is short on notice, but I know we can do it.  Sharon’s current goal is only $1000.  As we did for Emily in her quest, let’s exceed the $1000 goal in honor of her mother and all of those we know who suffer from cancer.)

As some of you may know, a few weeks ago a woman I often referred to as “mom” passed away after fighting cancer for many years.  So many times she surpassed expectations in her battle, living long enough to see her children grow to become successful adults and to enjoy the early years of her grandson.  Now it is our turn fight the good fight as she did by contributing to the education and research of breast cancer. 

Breast cancer is the most common and the second most deadly form of cancer in women worldwide.  Catchingthe disease early increases the odds of surviving increases greatly.  Educating the public so they are aware of the early warning signs of breast cancer is just as important as finding a cure.  The Race for a Cure provides funding for both. 

The leading team (as of April 7th) currently has collected $9190 in donations.  Sharon has a goal of only $1000.  Let’s do what we can to blow past the leader and show our support for all of our friends and loved ones who are currently suffering from this disease or have fallen victim to it.  As medical science has shown, we are able to suppress or even defeat diseases when we put all of our effort into it.  Breast cancer is no different.

Two months ago I wrote an article called “How NOT to get a million blog hits a day,”discussing some ways people use controversial topics as a way to generate exposure to their website.  Well, I’m glad to report that I discovered on topic which did generate a lot of exposure for my own site during the past three months, and that is the Dodge Nitro commercial “Beautiful World.”  In four months, my site has been visited 1667 times.  The Dodge Nitro commercial post has received 712 visits, accounting for 43% of the site activity.  See?  A simple commercial is all it takes, and not pictures of Saddam hanging or Spears walking around without underwear on.

Now I love the commercial for both the song and the special effects, but I never guessed that so many of you out there also felt the same.  To all of you who visited the site, I want to say thank you, and I hope I can find another commercial for your enjoyment.

Surprisingly, I have received many hits due to searches on the SS Green Island.  For those that have not read my November article on the ship, she is a LASH, or a Lighter Aboard SHip vessel.  To all of you that are searching for information on the Green Island, please leave me a message letting me know if you have sailed on the ship at some point, or what information you are looking for.  I have a few personal pictures of the ship that I need to scan and get uploaded, if that is what you are looking for.  If you are checking out the latest status on the ship, I will do my best to find that for you.  But please, leave me a message to make yourself known.  I have not found a Green Island dedicated website yet for former crew members, so maybe we can start one here.
